Wilf Jessop Weds

Jessop is a famous name in Sheffield and the tennis-playing branch gathered together, with friends, on Saturday for the wedding of second generation Wilf, his parents having been at the forefront of our game after WWII and later. Three 3G members, his grown-up children, brought along a number of potential 4G players. No other ‘S&D’ family can match such a gathering and suggested collective nouns were being bandied about – a ‘Jug’ of Jessops lost out to a ‘Jeroboam’ given the occasion.
Wilf was widowed a few years ago and married Jean at the Independent Chapel in Chinley, her home town, where they will live. Not so convenient for his tennis at Hallam Grange but nearer to Manchester airport for his international forays!
This is not the time for a resume of his tennis career (only obits) other than to say Wilf was the President of our Association in 2004.
We wish them well and every happiness for the future.
